Creating Fixed Groups

By creating a fixed group with your BluOS players, you can have your players work together to provide a specific listening experience different from standard grouping in the BluOS app. Once a fixed group is created, these players will appear as a single player in your BluOS player drawer. There are 3 different types of fixed groups which can be created in the BluOS app, Stereo Pair, Home Theatre Group and Multi-Layer Group.

1. Stereo Pair:

Adding two players to a stereo pair will configure these players to each handle a single channel output (left or right) allowing them to play together in stereo. This is useful when using speakers such as two Pulse 2 located on opposite sides of the same room.

Creating a Stereo Pair

• Open the Player Selection Drawer by pressing the House Icon in the BluOS App
• Select Fixed Groups from the header bar of the Player Selection Drawer
• From the My Fixed Groups listing press the + sign
• Select Create Stereo Pair
• Scroll through the list of available Players and select the two Players you wish to Stereo Pair and press Next
• Input the name you would like to have this group display as in the BluOS app
• One of the two Players will begin to Play an alarm sound, in the App press the Left Player or Right Player checkbox to indicate which Player has the alarm and press Next
• Select Done to return to the My Fixed Groups Listing
• Select Done to return to the Player Selection Drawer
• Your Stereo Pair will now appear as only one Player in the App and an icon of a room with a Player in the adjacent corners of the Room

2. Home Theatre Group:

Using a Home Theatre group, you can configure your players to provide Dolby Digital surround sound to your listening space. To create a Home Theatre group, you will need to use a Pulse Soundbar, Pulse Soundbar 2i or a Powernode 2i with HDMI to act as your front channels, and any two Pulse Flex speakers or a single Powernode of any generation to act as the rear channels. Creating a Home Theatre Group

• Open the Player Selection Drawer by pressing the House Icon in the top right corner of the App
• Select Fixed Groups from the header bar of the Player Selection Drawer
• From the My Fixed Groups listing press the + sign
• Select Create Home Theatre Group
• Scroll through the list of available Players and select all Players you wish to add to your fixed group and press Next
• Input the name you would like to have this group display as in the BluOS app
• Select which player is connected to your TV – either the Soundbar or Powernode 2i with HDMI
• One of the two rear speakers will begin to play an alarm sound, in the App press the Left Player or Right Player location to indicate which speaker has the alarm and press Next
• Use the sliders to adjust the distance from your listening position (couch or chair) to each speaker and press Next
• Press the play icons next to each speaker to hear a sample alarm and use the sliders to adjust the relative volume of your players. When complete, press
• Select Done to return to the My Fixed Groups Listing
• Select Done to return to the Player Selection Drawer
• Your Home Theatre Group will now appear as only one Player in the App and an icon of a TV

3. Multi-Player Group:

A Multi-Player group will act very similar to standard grouping in the BluOS app. The main advantage of a Multi-Player group is to group multiple players which you would like to use solely together and not independently. This will result in this group appearing as a single player in the player drawer of the BluOS app.

Creating a Multi-Player Group

• Open the Player Selection Drawer by pressing the House Icon in the top right corner of the App
• Select Fixed Groups from the header bar of the Player Selection Drawer
• From the My Fixed Groups listing press the + sign
• Select Create Multi-Player Group
• Scroll through the list of available Players and select all Players you wish to add to your fixed group and press Next
• Input the name you would like to have this group display as in the BluOS app
• Select Done to return to the My Fixed Groups Listing
• Select Done to return to the Player Selection Drawer
• Your Stereo Pair will now appear as only one Player in the App and an icon of multiple players

Balancing or Adjusting Players in a Fixed Group

• Select the Fixed Group Player in the Player selecting Drawer
• Open that Player's context menu by pressing the 3 dot icon to the right of the Player
• Select Edit Fixed Group
• Using the slider adjust the balance or fader of the secondary players in the Fixed Group or Stereo Player adjusting up to 10db +/-
• Press the Settings icon of any of the Fixed Group Players for additional individual tonal controls of each player.
• Select Close to return to the Player Selection Drawer

Removing a Fixed Group

• Select the Fixed Group Player in the Player selecting Drawer
• Open that Player's context menu by pressing the 3 dot icon to the right of the Player
• Select Delete Fixed Group
• If the Fixed Group was a Stereo Pair, both Players will return to full Stereo Mode removing Left and Right channel isolation.

Notes

• A Home Theatre Group requires a Pulse Soundbar, Pulse Soundbar 2i or Powernode 2i with HDMI to act as the front channels
• A Home Theatre Group requires 2 Pulse Flex speakers of any generation or any generation Powernode to act as the rear channels
• A Home Theatre Group can only output Dolby Digital content to the rear speakers
• Stereo Paired Group cannot be added to a second Fixed Group
• Players cannot be added or removed from a Fixed Group. To add or remove Players you must delete and recreate a new Fixed Group.
